This tee is made to show love and support to Palestinians. A way of showing, “we know the truth.” When wanting to show support in a respectful way, we really didn’t know where to start. All I could think about is what we’re good at and that’s making t-shirts. We wanted the tee to tie a connection between the devastation that’s currently taking place and the right for Palestinians to be free.

So on the front, nice and bold, we have “THIS IS NOT PROPAGANDA.” For decades, propaganda has been used as a tactic to persuade the people. With what’s currently going on, we feel like that has played a major issue when it comes to misinformation. Right below that is a symbolic key made to represent the Palestinian people. It is a used symbol of the Nakba, meaning catastrophe. This is included due to the fact that many of the Palestinians kept the keys to their homes when they were forced into exile in 1948. It was used as a symbol to say that the people are waiting for their right to return home. Under the key on the front of the tee is in Arabic “Pray for the Innocent.” Which in itself is self-explanatory.

On the back of the tee, is a graphic of a Palestinian woman picking olives from an olive tree. Olive trees are one of the most common crops produced on Palestinian land. However, these crops continue to be damaged and wiped away by Israelis. Israel also formed multiple campaigns around the idea that they were planting pine trees over that land so that it seemed more beautiful and attractive to tourists. Within that same graphic in the background you can see the apartheid wall. This wall has turned Palestinian towns and villages into isolated enclaves, cutting off communities and families from each other, separating farmers from their land, and Palestinians from their places of work. Not to mention, a separation that limited resources, education, and medical. Above that graphic and below it is a common slogan used amongst the people there. “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” This slogan was created back in 1964. Meant to be a saying to resemble a future of peace and freedom. Over the years, with the control of propaganda, Israel has tried to deem this as hate speech. Which I find odd, because the people of actual Palestine that feel this way would say different. To me I would take a word for what is is intended by the people saying it, when its being, and how its being said. I don’t see it as being negative or anti-semitic at all. We stand on that statement, by reiterating right below the slogan, who it is intended for interpretation by.

Aside from actual design we included the green color from the Palestine flag as well as include a geographical type gradient to resemble the land that belongs to the Palestinians.
